Industrial visit at Water Treatment Plant, Sector 39 Chandigarh
Around 35 Students of Civil Engineering, 4th Semester were taken for an industrial visit to Water Treatment Plant of Capacity 45 MGD in Sector 39, Chandigarh.
Water Treatment is a process used to improve the quality of water to make it more acceptable for specific use. The end use may be drinking, industrial water supply, irrigation, river flow maintenance, water recreation or many other uses, including being safely returned to the environment. Water treatment removes contaminants and undesirable components, or reduces their concentration so that the water becomes fit for its desired end-use.
Mr. Manjeet , Engineer In-charge, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, was the resource person and guided the students about how water is initially taken from Kajauli water works, later on how it is treated and further supplied to Consumers of Tricity. He gave a tour of the plant and explained how the whole system and machinery in the plant works.
The students were quite influenced and astonished on visiting such a place.
